Imam Abū ʿAmr ʿĀmir ibn Sharāḥīl ibn ʿAbd al-Kūfī al-Shaʿbī, a renowned scholar of Ahl-e-Sunnah, is quoted by Ibn Qutaybah, stating about the family of Ali ibn Abi Talib:
وقال الشعبي: ما لقينا من آل أبي طالب؟ إن أحببناهم قتلونا، وإن أبغضناهم أدخلونا النار.وقال الشعبي: ما لقينا من آل أبي طالب؟ إن أحببناهم قتلونا، وإن أبغضناهم أدخلونا النار.
"What have we found from the family of Ali, other than If we loved them, they killed us; and if we hated them, we would be cast us into Hellfire."
