24. Ahmad bin Hanbal tried to hide the name of Hakam bin ‘Aas in a narration in which Prophet (ﷺ) had curse him and his progeny !

Al-Bazzar (Died 292 AH) narrated :

Sh’abi narrated that I heard Abdullah bin Zubair saying when he was standing close to Ka’ba : I swear by the Lord of this house, Surely Allah (swt) cursed Hakam (bin ‘Aas) and his progeny through the tongue of his Messenger (ﷺ).

Musnad – Al-Bazzar // Volume 6 // Page 159 // Number 2197 // Edn. Maktaba Al-Uloom wa Al-Hikam Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

Now the same narration is quoted by Ahmad bin Hanbal (Died 241 AH) but he changed the text like this :

ورب هذه الكعبة، لقد لعن رسول الله فلاناً وما ولد من صلبه

I swear by the Lord of this house, Surely Messenger of Allah (swt) cursed THAT PERSON and whoever is from his progeny.

Musnad – Ahmad bin Hanbal // Volume 26 // Page 51 // Number 16128 // Edn. Risalah Al-Alamiyyah Beriut Lebanon.

This narration is also in Mu’jam Al-Kabeer with a different chain and there the name of Al-Hakam Al-‘Aas is clearly written.
