It is with great respect and humility that I present this English translation of Difa‘ an Imam al-Hasan, authored by Muhammad al-Mosvi al-Jabri, under the title The Lion of Forbearance: In Defence of Imam Hasan (as). This work, originally composed in Arabic, offers a detailed account of the life, virtues, and trials of Imam Hasan (ʿa), providing historical insight, theological reflection, and moral guidance.
My effort in translating this text has been to remain faithful to the author’s original meaning, style, and tone, while rendering the content accessible and comprehensible to an English-speaking readership. Certain cultural, religious, and historical nuances inherent in the Arabic text have been carefully preserved, with explanatory notes added where necessary to ensure clarity without altering the integrity of the original work.
I hope that this translation serves as a bridge for readers seeking to understand the life and legacy of Imam Hasan (ʿa), and that it contributes to a broader appreciation of Islamic history, scholarship, and the exemplary character of the Prophet’s family.
