17. Distortion of a another narration in which Mugheera Ibn Sho'uba had appointed people to abuse Ali in Kufa.

Al-Nasa'i (Died 202 AH) narrated like this :

Sa'eed bin Zayd narrates that when Mu'awiyah entered upon Kufa, Mugheera bin Sho'uba appointed speakers to abuse Ali, Sa'eed bin Zayd stood up and said : Don't you see this oppressor who is orderibg people to abuse a person from Paradise.

Sunan Al-Kubra - Al-Nasa'i // Volume 10 // Page 224 // Number 8348 // Edn. Dar Al-Tasil Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

Now same narration with same chain comes in Sunan Abu Dawud with following distortion :

When that person came to Kufa, Someone apointed speakers, So Sa'eed bin Zayd stood up sand said : Don't you see this Oppressor.

Sunan - Abu Dawud // Volume 7 // Page 156 - 157 // Number 4567 // Edn. Dar Al-Tasil Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

So you can see how Abu Dawud Sijastani tampered with this narration to hide the identity of Mu'awaiyah and Mugheera (both are companions) who were involved in abusing Ali.

The utter shame is that later sunni scholars have boasted and even praised Abu Dawud for hiding these names. Here is an example,

Muhammad bin Abdul Al-Hadi Sindi (Died 1138 AH) in his commentary on this narration says :

Abu Dawud did right when he changed the name of Mu'awiyah and Mugheera with "Someone - فلان " to cover them up in this context as they both are companions.May Allah reward him with goodness.

Fath ul Warood fi Sharah Sunan Abi Dawud - Sindi Kabeer // Volume 7 // Page 55 // Edn.Dubai UAE.

How can you expect truth from their books when they openly distort narrations and then boast about it.
